Genital warts

Genital Warts. My autocorrect keeps turning it into "genius warts". Yes, those things are genius ... of course ... You understand that my autocorrect has a hard time with my complaining while typing.

Anyway. So genital warts. They have nothing to do with being a genius. In fact: you are not exactly a genius when you get them.

These mean things are therefore warts on or around the genitals, or the genitalia. Hence the name of course. The warts are caused by a virus that is transmitted through sexual contact. But: you can also get them by using a used towel from someone who has genital warts.

Because the warts can also be in the vagina or anus, they are not always noticed. The warts are innocent but persistent and can spread quickly.

How do you know you have Genital warts?
Women:
Women can have warts on or around labia, in the vagina, on the cervix and in or around the anus.

Men:
For men, the warts are on the penis and in or around the anus.
  • It may take a few weeks to a year after infection for the first warts to emerge. It often starts with small warts that expand later and grow larger.
  • The warts do not hurt but can itch.
  •
The virus remains in your body, but the warts can be removed. The sooner you do that, the easier it is and the smaller the chance that they will come back.

Prevention
A condom offers some protection with oral, anal and vaginal contact but cannot always cover the entire infected area. Use with licking and rimming (that is licking the anus) a lick pat.

Avoid unprotected contact between the genitals and the anus (even when you only use your hands). Be careful when sharing sex toys: clean them or put a condom on them. You naturally replace that condom before you pass on the toy.
