Gonorrhea

The very name. This is a sneaky bastard. It is an STD that is caused by a bacterium that lives on and in the mucous membranes of the vagina, penis, anus and eyes. Yes, you read that right, including your eyes.

How do you recognize Gonorrhea?
In women there are not often clear symptoms. Exactly, sneaky bastard. You can watch for the following symptoms:
  • more or different secretions than normal (f)
  • pain or burning sensation when urinating (m / f)
  • pain in the lower abdomen (f)
Men often get a "dripper" from Gonorrhea. Men can also have the following complaints:
  • pain or burning sensation when urinating
  • yellow / green pus-like discharge from the penis (also called "dripper")
  • often urinate small amounts
  • severe pain in the ball sack
With oral sex you can also get the infection in your throat. Sounds pretty dirty, right? That's why we write about STDs and how you can prevent them
.
Note: You can have Gonorrhea even if you have no complaints and the infection can have serious consequences with or without complaints! Consider inflammation of the fallopian tubes or bijbal. In women it can even lead to infertility or ectopic pregnancy.

Prevention
If you have read the symptoms then you probably understand that prevention of Gonorrhea is important. But how do you do that?
Use a condom for vaginal, anal and oral contact. Avoid unprotected contact between the genitals. Even when you only use your hands! When rimming (licking the anus), use a lick and be careful when sharing a sex toy. Clean the sex toys well or put a condom around them (of course change this before you pass on the toy).

Better safe than sorry.
